Dash Round (45 Points)

This is a round consisting of 15 problems to be done in 25 minutes. Problems are in roughly ascending difficulty. Each question will be worth 3 points.

Theme Round (45 Points)

This is a round consisting of 9 problems that is to be done in 35 minutes. The problems are split into 3 themes, which are in ascending difficulty. The problems within each theme are also in ascending difficulty. For example, problem 3 in category 3 is significantly harder than problem 3 in category 1. The problems are each worth 5 points.

Team Round (160 Points)

This is a round consisting of 10 challenging problems to be done in 30 minutes. You may communicate and discuss problems with people on your team. Problems are in roughly ascending difficulty, and each problem is worth 16 points.

Guts Round (180 Points)

This is a round consisting of 24 problems to be done in 40 minutes. The 24 problems are split into 8 sets of 3 problems. Problem sets are in ascending difficulty, and harder problem sets are worth more points than easier problem sets (point values are on side of question). Teammates may communicate and discuss problems among themselves. Each team begins with the first set of problems, and whenever the team submits a set, they will be given a link to the next set. Scores will be calculated and presented on a leaderboard LIVE.

What You Need

LOCATION & Materials

WinMaC 2023 will be in person, hosted at the Winchester High School (80 Skillings Rd, Winchester, MA, 01890). You will need only a writing utensil for the competition.

When solving problems, only pens, pencils, and erasers are permitted. Online or handheld calculators, rulers, protractors, electronic devices, and graph paper are forbidden. Competitors may only use blank scrap paper.

Scoring

Individual Score

Individual scores are composed of 45 points from the dash round and 45 points from the theme round for a total of 90 points.

Team Score

The team sweepstakes score is calculated from the scores of the top 4 individuals and the scores of the Team and Guts rounds.
